The Strategic Plan of the Institute is a joint document produced in a "bottom-up"
approach which contains a self-criticism of the situation of the Institute, defines
the objectives to be reached during the lapse covered by the Strategic Plan, and the
resources needed for accomplishing them.
The Strategic Plan is then analized by international reviewer panels, who indicate
the aspects that should be revised, if any. Finally, the Board of the Scientific
Area to which the Institute belongs approves the revised Strategic Plan of the
Institute and assigns the resources needed for its accomplishment.
An important characteristics of the Strategic Plan is the definition of specific
objectives with quantitative indicators that allow to easily track their development
and degree of accomplishment.
