Marine Ecosystems Dynamics

The  "Marine Ecosystem Dynamics" grup  aims to understand the mechanisms that govern the interactions between the different constituents of marine ecosystems (from plankton to fish), thereby enabling us to determine how natural processes and human activities influence their structure and function, as well as their stability and flexibility to cope with future changes. Current research focuses in the coupling between ocean processes and the dynamics of marine plankton (from micro to mesoscale), the fine-scale microalgal dynamics (including the effects of turbulence, physical-biological interactions and occurrence Harmful Algal Blooms), the connectivity of marine populations, the factors influencing fish population dynamics and life history traits, the protection of marine living resources from the impact of fisheries and the translation of scientific knowledge into management and awareness.
